gigabyte 7970 oc vs gigabyte 670 oc

hi guys my birthdays coming up soon and im tossing and turning on whether to get the gig 7970 oc or the gig 670 oc.

im not a mad overclocker and i am in no way concerned of the price difference .....
im just looking for the better card🙂
i play games like bf3, just cause 2, crysis (WH and 2) ect....

first off its always helpful to list all of your specs in detail including power supply and resolution that you want to play at. next why are you looking at the 7970 for AMD but only the GTX670 from Nvidia?

Get gig 680 OC ()🙂

my specs are:
psu: corsair tx 850
cpu: i7 2700k (stock)
mobo: asrock pro3 gen 3
Ram: 16gb 1333 mhz

i plan on playing on 1920 x 1080

i guess that the 7970 and the 670 are just within my price range. though i have read that the 670 surpases the 7970 only just. but i dont know which to get... The 680 is a bit dearer than i can afford... but it doesnt matter the price diff as long as i get the better card..

Well just looked real quick on getprice.com.au. Cheapest price I saw on 680 was $605.00, 7970 was $512.00, 670 is $519. Didn't check stocks. Let's assume you can get all 3.

It depends on exactly what model you want, because prices vary a lot. At those prices though the 7970 is the best deal. It goes 680>7970>670. There's not much of a difference, performance wise, between any of them though.

Thanks I'll put that into perspective

670 is costlier than 7970 😱 I agree with 3d,grab the 7970.

At those prices I would get a 7970.

I never had real issues with AMD drivers vs Nvidia drivers. Both seemed to work for me. I will say one thing though, Nvidia seems to be quicker in releasing performance updates for new games. So when there's a new release, most of the time Nvidia will have a driver with fixes and optimizations out a little bit quicker.

Even if i had money in abundance i'd rather get a 670 instead of 680. That would be just stupid, IMO.
