Gigabyte 7850 Grey screen of Death

It's the gigabyte 7850OC Windforce 2X, I have tried 2 different cards and 2 different systems. With Catalyst 12.3 and the newest 12.8. Eyefinity and Single monitor. I tried lowering the memory clocks and the core clock and nothing has helped.

It happens when the card is under full load. It didn't happen in Project C.A.R.S cause I was CPU limited. But it happened in Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2.

It looks exactly like this.

Tested on my sytem and a Core i5-3450, H77, 8GB-RAM, Win7 home premium.

Looks like a VRAM failure. What is your PSU? Could be both GPU's are shot.

I'm using a Coolermaster GX750. Both GPUs have the same failure out of the box. I'll see if I can get a 3rd card to test out. I have a feeling it's a software issue. Or I guess the whole batch could be busted.

One side I would normally just say RMA it. But since you say 2 cards does the exact same 😵 But I still lean to the cards. Else it would have to be something like the rail the GFX card uses for power maybe. But still....

How about furmark or something? Tried that?

I haven't tried furmark yet. My 6990 that uses 3x the power, but runs fine though. I'll try furmark when I get home tonight.

Get in touch with gigabyte. It is a videocard BIOS issue.

I have a few of the HD7770 that give that "nice" screen. They were running fine initially, with the exception of the deep sleep bug (F2 BIOS). Flashed to the newer bios they posted (F5A), it fixed the deep sleep bug but gave me the grey vertical lines crash instead. I can bet the BIOS in their HD7850 is very close to the HD7770 BIOS, and hence has the same crash issue.
