Im looking at getting one, and want to know how it REALLY performs....i have had one person say that it runs an AXP 2600 at about 25C (idle), which is good, considering we have one of those here that is constant at 50C....

I don't have one, but I do remember reading reviews saying that they are pretty good coolers. Be careful about what other people report for temps though, remember that there are a lot of different factors coming into play. More important than what the actual temp is, is what the difference of cpu temp to case temp is - this is what defines how good a heatsink truly is. Also on that, motherboard temp reporting has never been any good - different bios versions can give temp readouts of up to 15C difference.

Anyway, the biggest concern I have with it is it weighs 780g. That's about double what AMD recommends for an athlon XP heatsink. You probably won't have any trouble with it, but I'd be wary of moving the case around too much without detaching the heatsink first (an annoying hassle, I'm sure). Basically I'd strongly suggest at least taking it off if you plan to put the case in your car to take to a lan - the last thing you want is to see that your heatsink ripping off your motherboard during a bump in the road. Or worse, your heatsink snapping your motherboard in half (unlikely I'm sure, but still a chance - this is why AMD and Intel have recommended maximums for heatsink weight).

They are great HS/F's go for it. I wouldn't be too concered about the weight but if you are there is a version that uses AL fins (much lighter) rather then copper that performs within a few degrees.

BTW i have a A64 3800 so it doesn't matter about the max weight of the AXPs....

Sorry, didn't pay attention to sig . Anyway, the specs for the A64s are only 50g more than AXPs, so it's still a long way over the limit. However, as Operandi pointed out, you probably don't need to worry too much about the weight - for me though, I take my comp to LANs a lot, so I didn't want to have to disconnect the heatsink each time I did it.

the full copper one is 55 at newegg and the other one is 45. so yeah kinda pricey. Im interested myself.

yeah, i got the 'Ultra GT' and its REALLY good....
it dropped my temps by about 5C.....

my A64 3800 idles at 30C-33C (with CnQ), and load is about 48C-50C!!!

before it was about 38C and then 55C

and thats at 3000RPM, i only push it to full speed if i overclock
