gigabit switch + 100mb router question?

So i have the normal WRT54G linksys as my main router, but now that i (finally) have 2 gigabit capable pc's I want to use my dlink gig switch.

My question is, if i add the dlink to the router, and have both pc's connected to the dlink, how does the traffic on the local network, work?

PC -> gig switch -> linksys -> gig switch -> PC

or

PC -> gig switch -> PC

Any help would be appreciated.

PC -> gig switch -> PC

The model for ethernet networking is such that a packet only travels "up" far enough to be able to find its destination. Data destined for another machine on the gigE switch does not need to go past the switch.
