I currently have a gigabit network installed in my home. All of my machines have network cards installed and they are all connected to a gigabit switch. I have a few questions about my ?gigabit? network.
1. How can I test the speed of the network?
2. I have watched my network usage on my XP PRO machine through task manager and have noticed my network usage never exceeds 30% regardless of what I am doing. I have watched network usage while streaming video and doing 10gig file transfers between machines and the usage never goes above 30%. Why wouldn?t all or more than 30% of the available bandwidth be used when I am doing a file transfer or any network activity for that matter?
3. What does the MHZ rating of different networking cables measure and how does that affect a network?
Any help would be appreciated or if anyone could point me to a website which could help me.
Thank you
