Ok, I have a Gigabit Network here, hp 1800-24G manged switch. Mixed servers
The other day i switched my main data server from xp sp3 to server 2003 because i noticed i can transfer to the server 2003 computers faster. And thats the servers main purpose. Some times when i transfer a file it starts out and bursts up to 140MB/s then levels out to around 98MB/s move a 4gb ISO in about 30 seconds.
Then some times i start a transfer and the speed is about 48-60MB/s, Which is more on par with the other servers. This is the fastest server in the bunch with the fastest drives. And idea why it might be doing this and why it is only sometimes. The files i have been moving are a mix of DVD-ISO's 3-8GB. Transfer is going from vista ultimate 64 > server 2003
