I'm starting to put together a plan for a client's house and the specs so far include three seperate gigabit ethernet networks. My only question right now relates to hardware. I'm thinking about using the 24 port D-Link Gigabit switch, but my only concern right now is the wire. I'm 99% sure on this, but you don't need to use anything more then standard CAT5 for gigabit, correct?

CATVe actually should support Gig speeds. CAT VI is not that much more expensive and is designed to a slightly higher standard. I'd probably go with Cat Ve now. I wired my house 3 years ago at Cat Ve specs.

See below.

Given the current price differential, putting in the walls CAT5e:thumbsdown: rather than CAT6:thumbsup: is kind of ?Silly?.;)

Does anyone know of a reliable brand for Cat6 cabling that isnt too expensive. Cable should be able to go between walls/floors.
