Giga-byte 8INXP and RADEON 9700 - HELP

I was wondering if anyone had this problem with the 8INXP M/B.
Every so often my display will just go to 4 bit color with the
resolution changing at the same time to 300 by 200. I have to reboot
to get back to what I originally set it too (1280 by 1024, 32 bit color).
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate the help. I am using
ATA raid with a P4(2.8) and Catalyst 3.2 drivers from ATI.

Common problem with this combo, I got tired of fooling with it and moved on to a different MB. I tried every driver combo(older Catalyst) and changed the settings as described in another thread, nothing worked to make it what I would call stable. 🙁
 
I had the same mobo and video card and unfortunately the same problem. I hear that the Catalyst 3.3's will fix the problem, so you might wanna read in the General Hardware forum for the leaked drivers from dell.
 
Dusty11... do NOT get rid of your mobo... its a simple thing to fix

first go HERE and check out the tute on installing your cat drivers the correct way... 6th post down - How to Update your ATI Drivers - read it > do it... it helped me this much 😀

also... make sure fast writes is DISABLED in smartgart... it doesnt work w/this chipset... i didnt even install smartgart, and all is well...
