Giga 8Pe667U and another RAID question

Okay, as you can see by my topic title, I have a Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra. I also have a 2.4b on the mobo. I decided to go with an Adaptec 1200A RAID card instead of using the on-board RAID. The main reason I'm not using the onboard RAID is that about 2 months ago I was doing some serious overclocking on this board and fried the RAID connectors on the board. Everything else works just fine and dandy, but somehow I fubared the two RAID connectors. It was no big deal at the time because I immediately upgraded to the new P4C800. However, now I'm setting this rig up to play games on the Wide Screen TV and house my MP3 collection to be played on the main stereo.
So here's what's happening. I have setup the adaptec card just like the instructions say. I only have the floppy and the CD-ROM hooked up to the system for the XP and RAID driver installs. I have 512 MB of micron RAM running at PC2700. In the adaptec RAID configuration, it says I have configured the two drives as a RAID0 array (which is the one I want). I'm flummoxed as to weather to call one of the drives in the array the boot drive or just leave them alone as HD0 and HD1, or will XP know that on the install. It does say on the array summary screen though that is only one drive at 74.37 Gigs (2x40 GB, damn MBR and MFT) Anyway, after I start install it, I pressed F6 and installed the correct array drivers. Then When I get to the partitioning part, XP recognizes the drives as one big drive also. I created the partition, formatted and prceeded to install XP. It goes all the way to the next part where it re-boots. Upon the re-boot....Blahhhhhh BSOD EVERYTIME!!!! Anybody work with the same mobo and RAID card before or at least have a similar set-up. My wife said if I can get her games to play on the TV she will greatly reward me...therefore..:disgust:!!!!!

I switched from the onboard to a Highpoint PCI controller and I did not have any problems. I'm sure you disabled the onboard RAID in the bios.

First thing I did. However, how do you have the advanced bios featues setup. Where it says:

RAID/SCSI Boot Order -------> {RAID,SCSI}

What do you have the above set at? I tried both I believe.

Also, what's your first boot device? HDD0 or another choice? Perhaps the SCSI choice/

Furthurmore, did you disable both on-chip PCI controllers? or do you have a CD-ROM hooked up to one? I have the one with nothing on it disabled.

I only disabled the Onboard RAID. You have to set it up to boot from RAID/SCSI and set the first boot drive the RAID/SCSI can't remember if it was seperate. When you set up your RAID array did you make one of them BOOT drive?

Yes I set one up as a boot drive. I did it both ways. My question is why would you set up onlu one of the drives as a boot drive, when they are both really the bbot drive when you install XP on it? I thought that the boot drive choice might have been for a JBOD or for setting up a stripe array.
