Gig vrxp7 wont detect onboard lan with f10 bios

my mate has a gigabyte vrxp (revision 2.0) and a 2200+. problem is that if he flashes his bios above version F8 his onboard lan isnt detected by windows xp. i have an identical system (except mine's a 2100+ an rev 1.1 mobo) and mine detects the onboard lan just fine with bios f9 and f10. Anybody got a solution or has had the same problem??
