Lack of common sense gets you a week off

Almost responded to that guy, very glad I didn't.

Anyway, why not a gift card? I always find it funny that people don't want to give gift cards, but when have you ever been upset with a gift card? I love giving Best Buy gift cards and receiving them. That way, if I save enough of them up, I can get something BIG that I really want, rather than a bunch of small things I kind of want.

I concur or if you don't have a Fry's near you then Best Buy or Circuit City or something like that.

I found all of the Unreal Tournaments, this includes 2004 on one DVD for less than $30.00. If he plays PC, that might be good. If you want the link, PM me because it's going to take me over 30 minutes to find the link.

I will be expecting my $20 in the mail shortly..

Any self respecting PC gamer already owns those games.

Good point! I've got them but I'm interested in getting all of them on one DVD. No disc swapping.

And you know, you don't necessarily have to go the geek route - he is just another guy (it appears) - any guy gifts at all should work.

Hit sears, or the mall or something, and see what kind of little gift sets they have. Tool sets, stuff for the house/apt, etc. Maybe Sharper Image or something.

Season 1 was on sale earlier this year at Best Buy for $20.

I can't say anything about a $300 flashlight, but I can tell you that the $35 Surefire G2 I linked above is roughly the size of a highlighter marker and puts out more light than a Maglight that is 5x it's size.

You don't realize how nice that difference is until you compare them directly. And you don't appreciate it until you need it.

So

Cold.

Hard.

Cash.

It is a waste of money to pay $35 for something that he'll value at $5 (if at all). Give him $35 in cash and he'll get things that he values at $35. Cold hard cash is the best possible gift for anyone. The recipient gets exactly what he/she wants, there are no transaction fees, no transaction terms, no returns necessary, no problems.

I disagree about cash especially for stuff like christmas

imagine if everyone that did secret santa gave the other person $35 cash

the whole thing would end up totally pointless

the only things i am likely to give cash for is a wedding otherwise imo it is a crummy gift

I have to confess. I also have a flashlight addiction. Put them everywhere, you never know when you need a flashlight. I was just looking at this one and it would be right at home aboard anyone's starship or time machine. In 1975 I had a large diving light that sold for over $100.00. I left it on the beach one night, ouch!
