gift ideas for a geek?

in the $50-$100ish range... any suggestions? anything I can think of (flash drive, ipod accessories, any computer hardware, etc) he probably already has, hence my difficulties. I'm trying to find something a little cool / unusual that he might not think to buy for himself.

for example , "movies"

so i buy 3 dvds? and then what? the chances are pretty good that he'll already have them or hate them/not want them

can you somehow ask them to be a wee bit more specific (especially if they have more computer parts than they know what to do with OR if they already have an extensive movie collection)? if they can't, just point-blank ask which store they want a gift card from? if necessary, have someone contact them on your behalf.

you know food is always a good standby. do you know if they like:
...chocolate? ask SH3200 for ideas, he's mr. chocolate, IMO.

...coffee? kona coffee is on the pricey side, so the likelihood they've tried it is low, unless they're a true coffeeholic.

...fruitcake? jadinolf orders the brand Claxton by the pounds. another option would be Harry & David's (supposedly their recipe is top-secret).

...popcorn? you can get a 5-gallon tin filled. hmmm, i recently saw this website for "unusual" flavors: http://www.daleandthomaspopcorn.com/

...cookies? oprah likes Fox & Obel's oatmeal raisin cookies. mustn't forget mrs. field's cookies.

...jelly belly? Kirby64 got some from his secret santa, wyvrn.

...and for the i'll-try-anything-once eater/drinker....there's this one 5-flavor holiday pack from Jones Soda. the drink flavors are: Turkey & Gravy Soda, Cranberry Soda, Mashed Potato & Butter, Green Bean Casserole, and Fruitcake Soda. ewwwwwwwww, right?
