my younger bro is a major dvd-alcoholic. I just helped him move into the dorms as he starts his first year of collage. just counting the dvds he brought with him, there was over 100!!! he says closer to 140....different movies......he has no tv, just his computer.

now i know what to get him for xmas. well at least i will, with your help. I need something that can store dvds and either access them while in this device (pref) or 'spits' it out for you to throw in you drive.

some of my thoughts were just to have him rip all of his dvds and just save the originals. but there is two major problems. One it will require many many hard-drives. and they would need to be at least a raid 5. thats just too expensive. Problem two was an ethical wall. i don't want him duping and sharing his collection and getting thrown of out collage (happened to my second year roomate. not with dvds but software).

needs to be windows compatible (sigh). any ideas? and please keep in mind, it needs to have something with massive storage.

Honestly a binder seems more practical than those silly spinner gizmos. But if you must, I've seen them in the cyberguys.com catalog.

well that works, but is there a system that can actually use the inserted DVD ? instead of spitting it out for you to use?
