Gift for my mom?

My mom's birthday is this Thursday. She's an architect, and I was thinking of getting her a really nice book on architecture, full of beautiful pictures, etc. Anyone have any recommendations? Any other gift ideas? Thanks.

Considering she's an architect, she probably spends her whole day looking at pictures and the like, does she have any hobbies that are non-work related johnnytightlips?

Hmmm.... my suggestions are:
1) search through old family photo albums, and find a good but old photo, have it enlarged, and framed. Alternatives to this are-if you have siblings-get a recent photo made of all of you together. PicturePeople.com has locations in a lot of malls across the US if you want to do this.
2) If she loves art, you might consider taking her, or giving her tickets to a local art show, or theatre play.
3) If you can, throw a surprise party for her. Try and get her friends and co-workers in on the deal!

Basically, if I understand anything about women thus far, they appreciate more of the thought you put into the gift rather than just buying a general present.... hence my suggestions. (Now, a GF might like a $10,000 rock better than a poem you created on your own, so there is a lot of grey area into this thought! )

PS I also suggest staying away from the architect book.

Good luck. 😀

my husband is an architect..

does she have a favorite? like.. he's a huge frank lloyd wright fan, so.. a really good (new) FLW book might please him.. or a dvd travelogue type movie of a bunch of wright's houses.. I know he'd like that.. he's also a big fan of solari (sp? the arcosanti (heheh.. sp?) guy) so.. a really good new book on what's up with that in the last decade or two would be good for him too..

but.. he spends all his work time doing architecture and really, he'd be happier with a nice bush for the yard or a new train thing (his hobby, s-scale trains).. stuff that's fun or relaxing for him, rather than related to his work.

oh.. hehehe.. maybe that wasn't quite helpful enough.. different perspective..

I'm a mom! A really good photo of my kid.. nicely framed.. would do it for me..
