My mom knows I have been looking for a pair of new headphones and for Christmas this morning she got me a pair of $60 headphones that tbh aren't very good

I think it's awesome she noticed and thought to get me the phones but I still want better ones... should I feel bad asking her to return them? I feel like that's almost insulting? Should I just buy the ones I want? But then I feel like the other ones are a waste that could have been used on something else?

So people with experience... better to maybe "hurt her feelings" (oh YOUR headphones weren't good enough for ME) and ask if she can return or just swallow it and don't tell her?

edit: merry christmas atot

Merry Christmas.

Tough call. I usually suck it up and make it appear like I'm using and enjoying the gift. Sometimes after actually trying the gift out for a bit I find I start to like it more. I guess it depends on how bad they are, but I wouldn't ever ask someone to bring my gift back and get me something different.

In my mom's case she wouldn't care if I did and would be happy to return it for something better, but I would feel bad doing it.

I'd give them a try first, see if you like them. Otherwise I'd just go and buy the ones you won't and don't say anything to your mom.

Tell her that you heard something weird about those headphones (they can hurt your ears or something) so you got the replacement style that everyone is getting as a result and share how the frequencies are so silky smooth that it's actually GOOD for your hearing.

???

Package not opened? A lot of stores will accept returns w/o a receipt. Just casually ask your Mom where she got them while enthusiastically telling her she's the best Mom EVAH!!!!!

Just keep the ones she gave you as a pair of back ups and get the pair you want. I doubt she'd know the difference if she saaw you wearing them.

If you can ask the gifter for the packing slip, that would save you a world of trouble; however, Amazon knows that Aunt Lucy is a pretty forgetful and if you don’t have the receipt or invoice that is ok too.

1. Go to the Amazon Returns Center
2. Insert the order number if you have the invoice.
3. If you don’t have the order number you need to contact customer support.
4. Be prepared with the gift Sender’s name, email address, phone number and the address where the gift was shipped.
5. Once connected to the Amazon representative you can explain your gift situation and they will help you return, or exchange your present.

There is a snag if your loved one purchased your gift through an Amazon third-party seller like Amazon Merchants or in the Marketplace. Since Amazon does not fulfill these orders you have to contact the third-party seller directly for a refund or exchange.

Go to our Walmart, Target, Kmart return policy blog.

Go to our Best Buy, Circuit City return policy blog.

I would go with the monster turbines. I got the turbines from amazon for $60 from their goldbox, totally worth it. I won't get the refurbish from monster, since it only carries 90 days warranty, while the brand new one carries 3 yrs warranty.

She got them from amazon so no easy exchange

Keep them as backups, appreciate the thought and gift.

It's your mom. Even if you don't want the food, trinket, etc she tries to give you - take it anyway. It's not about the gift, it's about her feeling like she's helping you.

Now dad should be able to take the truth, don't let him waste money on something you won't use.

Keep them and deal with it. She doesn't know any better and was just trying to be nice, don't throw it in her face.
