gift cards....

Hey guys, I am really in need of some liquid money (cash), and I got a GC from some extended family of mine (happens to be for Tower Records). Now, what I was wondering, was since California already doesnt allow GC's to EXPIRE, are we allowed to cash them in for their value? I tend to believe we can do this, because I did a long time ago but not recently. However, the card says that it cannot be redeemed for cash. Is CA different and not apply to that 😕? I swear Ive done it before...

Then again I could always buy something with it and return it immediatley for cash right? lol

CA law to cash gift cards unless otherwise printed on the gift card itself

edit: unclear to me if CA law says they must cash it no matter what.

what you do is go talk to the people in line who are purchasing something and ask if they would like to buy a gift card. they'll usually want to verify its legit so just stand in line with them until they get to the register which is when they pay you the money for the gift card and then use it for their purchase. i have done this a few times with gift cards and it was easy since the people are already buying items.
