The GIF isn't displaying correctly on my screen...the part where they add the meat is missing.

Simplifying? No, they're a giant pita. Great way to showcase a recipe, but for my uses I'd still have to write it all down. I'm the type to double check if I'm doing something right with a new recipe on every step. I'm not waiting for that thing to loop back to the part I'm at to make sure I'm following the recipe

Same. Step one for me is getting out all the ingredients.

I think it depends on the recipe. Those recipes look way too complicated in general.

Every time I see one of these... its always the same.

Whatever the main ingredient is, do this:

add 16 pounds of cheese, 5 cups of butter, a fuck ton of sugar and then deep fry it. Great.

Nothing beats the Cookbook for Engineer's method:

All ingredients are in a simple list for shopping/preparing. All work can be read at a quick glance rather than wading through dense paragraphs mid-stir. Fits on a postcard.

Ok maybe it doesn't make it easier but makes it easier less daunting for sure.... imo

a video but you now have to click right and show controls, and still go on and backwards in the video instead of having a simple list.

now that's a good idea to have an easy and compact cheatsheet once you've read the long format recipe and are ready to start.
