Guitar playa's of ATOT does this new tech intrest you?

There have been other attempts at bolt on autotuning systems that were never really successful, but this is definately the first offering of a fully integrated system by a top tier manufacturer.

Although I'm a bit skeptical, this combination of geekdom and guitars gives me chills:D

Robot Guitar

Watch the "Instructions" video it explains the basic operation pretty well

Nothing beats pure talents. In my hands, this guitar would sound like crap.

I love the idea, and want one reallll badly. But I know I cant afford it so I will stick with my Epiphone SG for now.

does this thing automatically adjust tuning even while playing? If not, something by Line6 where it processes everything would keep "in tune" better. You can even go to drop-d and put on a capo without making any adjustments, just turning a knob.

I don't have a Line 6 guitar, just wondering how this is so much better.

The Line 6 implementations sound horrible because they're using electronic pitch correction. Gibson is doing it by changing the tension on the string; the same way the player would change tunings.

I've been looking forward to this for a while. Unfortunately I don't think you can program your own tunings into the knob, and I play some really odd stuff. $2500? Perfectly reasonable for a Gibson, whose Les Pauls have reached well over $3500 retail.

I think that it's pretty silly. If your playing a show, you cannot change from E standard to, say, D standard without adjusting the intonation. And since the Gibson doesn't automatically adjust for intonation, you're stuck with whatever tuning the guitar is setup for.

All of my guitars are properly setup and I never have tuning issues, even with my cheapo Squier '51, so it's a waste of money to me

Did you watch the videos?

You can set up the bridge, set tunings, even restring with the thing.

If you aren't a baller with multiple guitars set in tunings this makes it quick and easy to go from an Open G to drop D. The kind of guitarist that plays parties/bars and gets hit with selections all over the place can play more rather than spend so much time setting up.

At $2499 it's pretty reasonable IMHO.

The robot guitar just adjusts at the tuners, so if you changed tunings from Open G to Drop D the guitar's intonation would be all f'ed up.

Actually, I think Fender's VG got it more right- no moving parts. I see this thing as being fairly fragile and unreliable down the road. For $1000 less, I'd go the VG router (and I'm a Gibson man :) ).

It really shouldn't be that bad. I change my tunings around all the time and the intonation is barely off... not even a quarter turn. And usually only on my low string. For a live performance this would be fine.

I've read a bit more and found a few things note worthy

1. It will guide you to set intonation, but you still have to turn the set screw manually
2. You can change and save custom tunnings
3. The restringing and tuning is really cool and a time saver
4. The motorized tuners get electricity through the strings
5. Gibson is rumored to be offering a retrofit kit including the bridge/control module, the volume and settings control knob, and the motorized tunners for use on any Gibson guitar

Ouch... I think the video I just watched showed that it DOESN'T. It does tell you how much to turn the bridge screws and in what direction in order to fix it, but doesn't change it automatically while it tunes.
