Sucks for the Giants.

these preseason injuries are just so crap.
The NFL needs to shorten the preseason to like 2-3 games instead of 5.

It's only 5 games for the two teams selected for the Hall of Fame game. All others play 4 preseason games. But you're still right - it's too many games. 2-3 would be fine.

As for the Giants, they can forget a SB repeat. That's just not happening now.

Reports are that they may reach out to Strahan for one more season.
In an interview with the NFL Network Strahan sounded open to the idea.
If not, they can move Kiwanuka back to DE, which is his natural position, a position he ecxelled at.
But yeah, this is a big blow no matter what happens.

Ernie Accorsi looks like a genius though.
His old addage was "you can never have enough people who can rush the passer".
The Giants lost Strahan and Umeniyora. A hall of fame pass rusher and a pro-bowl pass rusher. They have two of the top young pass rushers in the game to step in, in Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka. Will it be the same? No, probably not. Is it a huge loss? Certainly. Is is survivable? Looks that way.

Strahan possibly coming back for another season? Interesting.

I think Strahan could have shown an itsy bitsy more class instead of coming out with "Pay me $8 million and I'll think about coming back" statement.

I thought they were going to increase the regular season by one game and, therefore, shorten the preseason by one game.

Edit: Go Vikings!

Yep, he'll play at the right price which means, he isn't going to play hard and isn't worth it imho.

Strahan is not going to be the answer. The key to the Giants defense last year was having both Strahan and Umenyiora out there together so that if the offense keyed on one the other would be free. Without Umenyiora Strahan will be double-teamed constantly and won't be much of a factor. Odds are the Giants were going to be no better than 8-8 this year anyway facing the almost inevitable post Super Bowl malaise and facing a first place schedule. Last year was a fluke and this year will be a return to normal. They should let Umenyiora heal, let Strahan stay retired, work some young guys into the lineup, limp home at 6-10, get a decent draft pick and focus on 2009. Just getting one guy out of retirement is not going to make them a Super Bowl contender again.

:( I drafted the Giants defense and the Redskins defense

Jason Taylor and Umenyiora both get injured

Apparently, Giants are calling out to Strahan to come back. From what I've read, Strahan wants $8 million for one year if he comes back
