Giant eBay drama over an $8 magazine.

So I've found myself engaged in a battle of moronic proportions with someone over an $8 eBay transaction. I bought the magazine, he never delivered. Turns out he does this a lot and gets away with it because people have no recourse after 90 days, so he doesn't get a neg either.

Now I see he's increasing his feedback by buying 1 cent items.

In addition I just received an email from a fellow "scammed buyer" effectively baiting me into auction interference in the hope of getting this tool off of eBay. The problem? How would this person ever know my email address- it wasn't sent by the eBay system nor is there any link between my account and the sellers that's publicly viewable. In short it's the dirtbag seller obviously trying to bait me into auction interference so he can ostensibly have eBay shut my account down. The IP's don't match but are close geographically, it's clearly him or his friend.

This is really pissing me off and it's not even the half of it. :frown:

It's $8... let it go. It won't be easy, but it'll save you lot of stress in the end.

Are you allowed to warn other buyers about his shady practices?

People like that suck.

Just watch his eBay transactions and warn potential bidders. Or post an auction of his up on here so we can, um, do stuff to him. 😉

There's no way to warn people. I made the mistake of using my secondary account to leave a neg for him and got raped by eBay trust and safety for it.

Seconded

nuke the city he lives in and be done with it?
alternately, email revenge would work perfectly for a situation like this one... not that I would ever advocate it...

I think you can file a complaint w/ Ebay, can you not?

It's like pissing on an electric fence, they have taken no action citing the 90 day rule. Even though eBay policy dictates a presell item must be delivered within 30 days they have no issue with this guy's behaviour.

well as a buyer.. Don't you have his contact info?

I think posting that here, would give more than $8 worth of entertainment...

how do you get someone elses email address if you have no transaction involved with them?

Sometimes I get emails from people who have seen me bid for an item and lose. They then email me asking if I want to buy the exact same item from them instead. Now how did they get my email? It's not supposed to be publicly shown.

I spoke to that guy "revlisoft" this morning, he never got a refund.

just email revenge his ass and stop worrying about it; it's only $8, it's not worth the anguish. Also, keep his address on file and use it when you need to register for something and you suspect they will be spamming the email address you use.

The only possible way is to use the eBay contact a member form by clicking on their name. The email will start with "Question from eBay member" and have eBay's IP in the header.

If you have his contact info go to court and file leins for $8 against him, his house, his car, the property his house is on, and anything else of public record that he owns. Next time he tries to get a credit card, take out a loan or anything else involving a credit check he should get very motivated to pay you back.

EDIT: Or the next time he tries to sell any of those items you have leins on, or in most states the next time he tries to re-register the car.

I don't really understand?

If the guy deserves a negative, how can you get in trouble for negging him?

The time limit for leaving feedback is 90 days, approximately. Once that time expires you have no recourse. The problem is that he promises the magazines to arrive soon after the expiration.

I used a secondary account to bid on a non-tangible item he was selling simply to neg a warning up there for future buyers. Trust and safety NARU'd my secondary account but just warned my primary account.

Edit: to answer your question directly the violation was auction interference by interfering with a transaction for the sole purpose of leaving feedback unrelated to the item in question.

Ahh. I see.

I'm shocked that more people don't neg him before the 89 days is up though, regardless of what he tells them.

Don't worry about the $8, you made way more than that selling G-mail accounts to people.

You agreed to wait 90 days to get something from someone over ebay?

Not quite sure if that's a jab or not. It's not the amount, it's the principal. I want to save people the drama I just endured.

Fair enough, I respect that
