Ghosting to SATA drive

Motherboard: Soyo KT-600 Dragon Plus 1.0

I've Ghosted my working install of XP from my IDE 120 gb drive to my 80 gb SATA drive, with the goal of having the SATA drive be HDD-0, and the IDE one being HDD-1 (so system and a data drive).

Before Ghosting, I installed the SATA controller drivers and all seems to be fine. However, the SATA drive will not boot, no way, won't even try. And my BIOS (now updated) won't specifically allow me to select SATA as a boot order option. I'm confused because this really should not be this hard, Ghosting boot drives isn't new.

jphoto,

Welcome to the Forums! :)

In your boot sequence, try selecting SCSI to boot from your SATA.

I did try that once (though for that particular boot attempt other factors may have been at play). The thing that makes this not sound promising to me is there is a BIOS switch for choosing SATA / SCSI for boot sequence, and for booting from SATA the manual explicitly states to use SATA first.

Of course, by this point I'm losing confidence in the logic of the Soyo BIOS and the manual. I'll re-try tonight treating the SATA interface as SCSI.
