Ghost World - 93% at Rotten Tomatoes?!

The movie was on sat a few weeks ago and after seeing that it got 93% at Rotten Tomatoes, i decided to watch it. Now, i'm a person who can really keep an open mind when it comes to movies - but this... this made me want to stick a sharp object in my eye. It was horrible, one of the worst, most pointless movies i have ever seen, and believe me, i've seen a lot of crappy movies. Now, how the hell did this piece of Hollywood trash get 93%? Higher than Braveheart (83%), Matrix (87%), Gladiator (78%), Fight Club (78%), and an endless list of other movies that are, without a shred of doubt, a hell of a lot better? What gives?

None of the movies you cited as being better are even in a remotely similar genre to Ghost World, so I'm not surprised the ratings don't jibe with your experience.

It doesn't matter what genre they're in. Ghost World is horrible, end of story. I wouldn't give it 23%, let alone 93.

i think the movie is geared towards (alternative) teens.

I watched the entire movie on Showtime (or maybe it was HBO) a few weeks ago, and I didn't realize that Enid was Thora Birch until the movie was on again a few days later.

I'll have to say that I LIKED it too... But I didn't love it. I felt emotionaly neutral at the end. Punch-Drunk Love was sort of the same way with me. It was beautifully shot, it had an engaging story, but in the end I didn't feel moved by it.

ghost world is a funny movie.
weird, but funny. I think it is an adaptation from comic book.
definately better than most film out there.
