what exactly does ad-supported mean?

are you going to see ads while you play? is it only when the game launches?

I downloaded the ghost recon game.
The advertising is in game.
Heres a look at the ghost recon ads in game.
Its free so I can't really complain .

They are also doing this with the upcoming game Enemy Territory: Quake wars.
Except in that game the ads will be on billboards in the game.
Like the ones you see beside the streets as you drive.

what about when you're actually playing the game (not in menus)?

honestly, that's not too bad though. i wanted to pick up far cry, and i heart PoP: SoT was also quite good.

i'll bite though, cause they're free :p

I haven't seen any ads in the actual game, just the menus.
It does require you to register with ubisoft on install, name , email, about it.

downloading farcry now, haven't played it in a long time and lost my copy somewhere.
I remember at the time I didn't really have a decent pc to play it, now should be able to max it out :)

Not a bad d/l even If you have the original as you don't need to load the cd with these.

Quick question, is does Ghost Recon include the expansion packs (Desert something and Island Thunder)?

I'm gonna be so pissed when I'm playing at like 4AM and (for some reason) get a craving for a Quarter Pounder, but McD's is closed. :)

On a more serious note, I hope that this campaign in successful and that new games begin to get released this way (maybe with an option to buy the non-add version). If they could make it work it could answer the publishers' concerns about pirated software. I could certainly see how advertising fast food/beverages and even PC hardware or other games could be successful, but the Ponitiac Wave add seems a little far fetched. I also wonder how they are going to track the success or failure of this.

Wow. The Far Cry ads are shitty as hell. fuck mcdonalds.

I'll have to dig out my old copy to get away from that bullshit.

You don't even start loading the map until after the ad movie has played.

Hmm...I downloaded Prince of Persia and it runs jerky and in slow motion even though the frame rate is consistant.
When the game runs on only one core the jerkiness is removed but it still runs in slow motion. Now the game is giving me an error and I can't play it.
We'll see what happens after a reinstall.

You have to create an account at www.ubi.com to create your login and password. Then use it to complete the install.

Runs fine for me on my single core CPU on windows XP. My only gripe with it is my joypad doesn't seem to be recognized. It's not a huge pain playing w/ the KB, but I would like to have my joypad work.
