Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

This game has been out a week - where are the reviews? IGN? PC Gamer? What happened. Loved the first one, but want to hear the final word before I buy the full game. I don't like how you can't micromanage anymore. It would be a shame to see such a good game idea go to waste and be dumbed down.

While there isn't as many as I would expect to see for such an anticipated game, there are still a few reviews out.
GameSpot 7.8 out of 10
Yahoo! Games 4.5 out of 5
1UP 9 out of 10
Games Radar 8 out of 10
Play Magazine 9 out of 10
ActionTrip 79 out of 100

it's freakin' HARD.

Especially when you think you are in the clear, and then the ^*&$ hits the fan. Definately more than an FPS.

FYI: The demo is the second level from the game. It isn't very different from the actual "retail" version.

The levels get harder as the game progresses. You really need to use all your resources to keep your squad alive. And as some of the reviews stated, unlike the 360 version, the PC version is truly 3D in gameplay. You have enemies raining RPG and sniper fire on you from high and low. Unlike BF2/FEAR/HL2/Quake 4, a near miss with an RPG or grenade = you dead.

The squad control takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it, they are really useful and essential to completing some of the levels (remember to tell them where to look). You have to babysit the Squad AI to an extent as they like to stand out in the open.

Overall:

Oh, there is no anti aliasing in this game (due to the Deferred Lighting rendering used. See http://www.tweakguides.com/GRAW_6.html for details).

DRM is Securom this time, so no Starforce worries.

yeah i was happy about no starforce. what's amusing is every so often securom thinks i'm using a backup. so i open the cd tray, close it, and it's back to normal. it's odd.

Ok. There are still no reviews in IGN or PC Gamer. What's going on? GR1 was like one of my favorite games of all time, and I know these two game review magazines loved it too. I want to know if it lives up to the original or should I just keep playing oblivion and forget about the new GR?

I dont think IGN or PC Gamers plan on reviewing it, the success of the PC version isnt very loud, not nearly as well done as the x360 version. If it grows in popularity it might, but from what ive seen it doesnt even fall into the top purchased games, very few people at AT have the game as well. You could email and try to convince them but without a large support i doubt we will be seeing many more reviews for G.R.A.W for the pc.

Runs like crap on my 6800GT

I'm having the same problem, even with my settings set to low. I thought I was CPU limited because I'm still an XP3000 on a NF7S, with 1 gb of ram but I'm wondering if the 6800GT up to par. I've disabled my fastwrites and updated my chipset and video driver. Any suggestions?

6800gt 1gb ram 3400amd64

runs pretty good for me since I upgraded to 84. nvidia drivers. setting on medium. no shadows. no AA. AF set to 4x.

They did not review it because it is the same game. If it was the same game, with better graphics, it would get 95% in Pc gamer. GR1 was one of the best computer games ever made in my opinion.

so far i've only played for like 30 minutes. Its a bit different now with team mmates and being able to control their movements etc.
I do like the camera view they provide. So far, its ok. The enemy AI is pretty smart but your teammates AI is retarded.

So far, no real complaints. I just wish my video card was a lot better to make it run a lot smoother. geforce 6800 isn't cutting it anymore 🙁

GRAW on the PC is (sadly) trash. GRAW on the 360 is awesome. Everything you see in the GRAW movies/previews is present in the 360 version.
