I watched through the series earlier. I thought the production values were excellent, and the character development superior to the first series, but felt the overall plot arc wasn't as gripping as the first.

Yeah I think the plot isn't as good, in later episodes they try to relate it through the Laughing Man incident and the standalone complex but it isn't as developed I think. I wish they had made more episodes, I was hoping for more

its a pretty good series but didnt get as much praises as s1, because season 1 was a huge hit that lead people to expect more. the storyline gets a bit confusing but finishes up good at least. 7/10 imo.

I think that the 3rd is coming in the form of a movie. The other two GitS movies don't take place in the SAC version of the GitS universe, but the next supposedly will.

Production I.G. only intended on making one series, it wasn't until the anime became a huge hit in Japan that they decided togo ahead and make a 2nd GIG. There hasn't been any news regarding another series, but I doubt it will happen.
