We just got in a few Gateway machines that have Windows XP pro installed on them. The problem is that we need to be running win98se for some old legacy programs we use daily. Gateway rep told us it would be now problem to install 98 with the components that are currently in the machine. It came with Pentium IV 1.8, 256MB pc2100 DDR, 32mb Nvidia GeForce2 MX200 AGP, 60 GB 7M Ultra ATA Maxtor HD, CD-rom, floppy, on board sound, 3Com NIC, all on a Intel D845GRG board.
So I whipped out our ghost image and tried to install it after I formatted and set the system to FAT32. Ghost 2001 fires up and gets to the screen where you pick the image and then it just refuses to find the image. Almost like the cd is dirty or something. That not the case as I have tried numerous images on different cd's, and have also tried several different gjost boot disks. I even took the drive out and set it up as slave on a win98se machine and it still would not ghost?
It first gave me some error message about being out of memory, then said it was trying to write to a locked disk? Did XP do something funny to the drive or am I missing something here?
This is the error message from Ghost:
