i created a recovery point. i donno how to burn it and create a bootable dvd.

how can i do so?

the dvd should be bootable and should contain my hdd data(programs and all) and also should install very quickly(as compared to traditional windows install times).

scotyard,

If you use Ghost's applet to make a boot CD, doesn't it just burn it in your CD burner? That would be a bootable disk to start Ghost. Then you would follow prompts to restore the image you made of your OS, etc.

I put my OS on a separate partition from my programs so I can wipe it then restore it with having to mess with the programs on drive D. If you have 2 HDDs on your system, just backup to that second drive and you won't need to burn your images to CDs or DVDs...

The Ghost extension is different from most, but Ghost should read that backup without any problem.

hi noeIS,

ghost's applet?????

yeah i have a separate partition for my programs. and i used the normal way to create my hdd backup in ghost. but it doesn't show an option to burn it to a disk.

also i want to burn my desktop image to a dvd using my laptop as my desktop's writer is not working.

scotyard,

Applet wasn't the correct term.. I should have said menu... When I open my present backup utility, Acronis True Image, it gives me the option to backup or restore, among others. If you select backup, it will then go through some dialogs, and finally gets to your HDDs directories to pick what you want to backup. It then asks where you want to back it up. I direct it to my external backup HDD, but could direct to a CD for burning the image. If I remember correctly, Ghost is the same way... just direct your output (image) to your burner with a CD in it...

If yours doesn't do that, put the output image in a directory on your HDD, then later burn it to a CD. Your burning program should have an option to create a bootable CD.
