Ghetto Hard Drive Trick

So I put an all-but-dead hard drive into the freezer, then took it out the next day, shook it to make sure the platters were moving free, and plugged it into the computer again. Son of a gun, it worked as long as it was frozen. How messed up is that?

Stupid story, I hoped to get out of telling it, but here goes. I was babysitting a 5 yr old for one of my aunts, and when I wasn't looking, young Mgyver (how do u spell that?) wandered into my room and evidently carted it off to the kitchen. The next day, I came home and went to pull out some old pizza, and voila! Plugged it in and it worked!



So, how does it work? Evidently you people know...
