So anyhow I'm an old married guy with kids, but I'd like to think I'm pretty open minded about understanding the "why" of what people do.

Then I run across a video of GG Allin.

And I have to wonder, was he either a psychopath, or was he just so intent on "being unique" that he took it to the extreme?

I'd guess a lot of both - mentally disturbed and bent on being an iconclast.

I bet his childhood wasn't exactly normal (was that mentioned in the movie "Hated?" Been a long time, can't remember).

stileproject has had some really... umm... 'educational' content in the past.
I just did a video search on lycos, and it appeared he had sh!t (verb) all over the stage at a concert and was throwing it inot the crowd....

Yah he's running around naked (vienna sausage btw), and he eventuall takes a crap, eats some of it, smears the rest all over him, throws it at the crowd. Now I'm reading some stuff about him.

Haven't seen the videos at that site, but there's a documentary called "Hated" about him.

At one performance (he was a punk rock singer/bandleader) wearing nothing but boots, he jumps off the stage singing the whole time and sort of starts moshing with people. Everyone sorta scatters. Then right in the middle of the floor, he squats, defecates, eats some of it, then starts throwing some into the crowd. RAWK!

He's a messed up Dude no doubt. Didn't he knock out most of his teeth on stage with a mic on purpose? Anyways, I'd have thought him a lot cooler if he followed through with his plan to off himself onstage.

EDIT: Yeah I see there's some words below the video describing the teeth and other incidents now.

He was a really, really weird guy. IIRC he was raised in a bizarre, abusive household in the sticks in New Hampshire. I never saw him live, but a friend helped set up his equipment when I was in high school. He said GG stood there in the club, before there was an audience present (just a few bartenders and crew milling around), and masturbated to conclusion.
 
I used to know GG when i was a kid, (like 17-18 years old) he played all the time in Manchester, NH. He was indeed a messed up guy, he once beat a guy with a tire...rim and all...nearly killed him.
He was always off his rocker, even then...
