GF's laptop broke down.....

It won't even turn on. When you press the power, absolutely nothing happens. No POST.

She tried using her bro's AC adaptor and it still doesn't work.

1. Is there anything we can do about this?
2. If we were to get a new laptop, how can she transfer files from her dead laptop? I don't know much about laptops at all. I know if it were a desktop, you can simply take out the HD and hook it up to the new one. How does that work for laptops?

Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

might be m/b ...
rip that hd out stick it in a usb enclosure or use a 2.5-> 3.5" ide cable adaptor ..costs maybe 5 bucks at frys or whateverr.
