Gf's car idling really hard

it also makes a screachingly high sound for half a second before the engine starts? What problems could these two things mean?

Sounds like a warranty issue to me.

I would not turn it on. It could be something serious you should tow it to the dealer or call them and see what they say about it. does it have any mods on it? Go to some Honda civic forums and ask the question maybe you will get answers.
