I building a sys, as some may know.
I was thinking of getting an amd 1.33 for heat issues/cost, so I can use that money on the hercules gtxp instead :).

My question is would there a be big performance drop and if so say by how many fps? I could live with maybe a 10fps drop.

Would I still be able to play 1024x768 32 bit with AA at about 60fps?

Thanks boys and girls, much appreicated.

I agree that there would be little difference between the two cpus and stock speeds. The 1.33 cpu's have a better shot at overclocking though (if you get the lucky stepping). Just food for thought.

Ok thanks for the input, but heres another thought.

I'm keeping this system for a long time, probably 3-4 years (college) would the extra 70mhz make a difference in the long run. I'm thinking no, but just curious.

No, you wouldn't notice 70mhz. And if the savings could afford you to improve other parts of the system, like the Herc GTXP as you mentioned, you would be exponentially more satisfied with the system as a whole.

Man, I would go back down to a gig if it meant keeping my GTPXP.

At 10x7x32 w/ AA you are going to be video card dependant enough that those 66Mhz are not going to matter at all.

Get the Herc. This is EXACTLY my setup. A 1.33 with a Herc Gaming XP. I'm glad I went that route.

Also, Think of it this way... A 70 MHz increase is a 5% jump from 1.33. 3 or 4 years ago I believe the best thing out was a Pentium II 300 or 266... I can't remember, maybe even a 400... let's just say 300. A 5% increase of 300 is 315 Mhz. I'm sure that if NOW you had a 315 Mhz processor, you'd still want to upgrade.

I think a benchmark showed a 1.33GHz along with a Geforce 3 could do Quincunx at 1024x768 @ 70FPS...
