Hi all, I have just upgraded my old BX board to a P3 800Mhz on a 100Mhz FSB.The weakest link is now the graphics card which is an ATI Rage Fury. This motherboard only supports AGPx2, would it be a waste of money buying a Gforce2 card which is AGPx4, would I lose some of the performance gains by running it on AGPx2.

You'll lose a frame or two but nothing you'll notice. Don't worry about not having a 4x AGP mobo.

Thanks for the swift reply, I need to change my ATI card as I only get about 900 in 3Dmark 2001 my other PC gets 2967 with a Gforce card but that has AGPx4.

I think 3D Mark 2000 and 3D Mark 2001 penalizes you more if you don't have AGP 4x but real world tests won't make a difference.

Don't worry about AGP speeds when contemplating your next video card purchase.

Yep, AGP texturing = joke. You are much better off investing in a 64Mb video card than banking on AGP texturing.

AGP texturing was a good idea when RAM prices limited video cards to 4MB. Then the bottom fell out and we had 16MB cards less than a year later, with 32MB about six months after. AGP texturing is useless now.
