I reside in Thailand, and yesterday (16/04/07) I bought myself a Geforce 8600 GT for 5000 baht which is around £75.

I have literally just installed it and its all working. I can't find much about it online apart from its meant to be released May 1st - so I have it 2 weeks early.

It has a GPU Core 540MHz and GPU Memory 700 MHz

This is just using the Nvidia Monitor View to see what it has in it.

I wondered if anyone could tell me anything about it.

The board has 2 DVI and S-Video out. There is no extra power supply needed for the card.

This is funny. This is the opposite of a paper launch. This is a hard launch before it is publicy announced by NVIDIA.

Ok here you go, sorry but I am not taking out of my case, but you can clearly see the label on the back as well as the box and the driver cd (which was rather basic) but it all came bundled with SpellForce 2 as well as the required leads.

The Driver CD comes with version 101.03 and automatically detects the Card as an 8600 GT
The CD also contains DX9 WDM and muvee maker.

Anymore Q's let me know...

I don't have 3dmark on my computer and with a slow ADSL connection it would take about 2 days to download. So I cannot run that benchmark, but if you know of any "smallish" programs that you would like me to run then link me and I will run them.

Nice catch. Did you get this on the grey market?

Interested to see benchmarks (3Dmark2005 is a good starting point). Price is very competitive for lower mid-range.

There is a huge plaza called Panthip Plaza and its 4 floors of all computer stuff. Must be over 200 shops there.
Anyway I was just buying a Zalman 9700 HS/F and then saw this card. The guy showed me it, and since I was looking for a 7600GT he said what about this. Showed me the 8600 and I was hesitant but i knew it must be quicker than the 7 series, and with DX10 as well. So I just took the plunge....

Now still waiting for 3dmark05 to download. at 58% and it has been going hours.... sigh

Anyway will benchmark and report results ASAP.

Ok here are the 2 results

All I did was installed it, and ran it.

After running it twice - it went up a few more points, but thats what I got.

3D Mark 05 - V 1.3

Just read the Articles and it seems i need to get the new 158.14 as Guru3D mentions the problems with the drivers I have, but they dont provide a link to the ones he used.

So if anyone has a link or can find me these drivers, let me know.

Here's something that might be worth knowing.
HDCP support is a requirement for all GeForce 8600 GTS cards, regardless of manufacturer, while HDCP support is an optional feature for the GeForce 8600 GT that NVIDIA leaves to their individual board partners.
