First check the switch settings to make sure they are a legitmate combination that your chip can run at. The GFD connector is very fine pitch (the fingers are close together). Make sure that an adverse combination of tolerances is not allowing the contacts to miss the proper fingers. I have a home made GFD that I have to push towards one end to make sure the fingers line up correctly.

First thing you want to do is set it to the defualt speed of your athlon(i.e. if its an athlon 700 then the default multiplier would be 7.0x) and see if it works. If it doenst make sure its plugged in properly. Also, Im not sure if this particular gfd requires a power connector, but if so make sure its plugged in nice and tight.

Alternating tone beeping noises usually indicate that something is running out of tolerance in the hardware monitor section of your BIOS. Just calm down and go to this secton and turn everything off. If this fixes the beeping, turn the functions back on one at a time until you find the offender.

Fenix793, don't chuck the GFD! I had the exact same problem, I use the same Northwind 3.0 on an Athlon 650. The first time I put it on, I had the multiplier set to the same setting as my 'default' CPU, in my case 6.5x, with the voltage @ 1.75. It wouldn't even post. When I removed the GFD, booted normally.
Then I remember going into the BIOS (my mobo is the Abit KA7) and setting the FSB and voltage all back to default, i.e. FSB=100 and V=1.6. I had previously been overclocking via the FSB settings.
I shut down, reattached the GFD (I think I even moved the dipswitches to give me a 7.5 multiplier), and booted up. I was pleased to see it post, Athlon @ 750 MHz. And currently I'm running at 850, 1.85V.

OK hope there's something there that is helpful to you.

Have you tried if you can boot with the bios floppy and reflash (if you have prepared the floppy with the system files). Sometimes a bad flash can be reversed.

I flashed the bios wrong on my parents computer on a Abit be6. I called Abit up and they sell bios chips for like 15 bucks. They sent it right away. Im not sure if Asus is that easy though.

Now my comp works fine. GFD still doesnt work. I tried resetting everything to defaults. Still no go. Anyone use a GFD with a K7V?
