GF4MX vs GF6800

OK, this ISN'T a performance post, I'm having a problem.

NFSU2 freezes when the rear-view mirror is on, when running on my 6800. If I put the GF4MX420 in, the game runs fine. I played it and let it run for about 5 hours on the gf4, but on the 6800 if the rear-view is on, it freezes within minutes.

I've tried both the 77.77 and 78-whatever drivers, I even installed a new/fresh copy of winxp. I'm using the game's patch, and the latest VIA chipset drivers. I'm also pretty sure I've ruled out the PSU as well, as I tested two brand-new 400w+ Fortran units, as well as a generic 500w with 30a+ on the 12v. Anybody else have any ideas for me to try?

Thanks
Ben

AGP aperature size in the bios?

Fast writes on/off?

Although the 6800 is also a Nv card, have you tried uninstalling the old drivers and the card, rebooting and running DriverCleaner? Then install the new drivers.

Fast writes are off, and I think the AGP apature is set to 256. And yea, I ran driver cleaner when I swapped my 9700pro out for the 6800 and I did it again when I downgraded from the 78s to the 77s.

Aren't the 8x series still betas?

I changed the FW to on and it still froze. Changed AGP apature to 512mb and it froze. I tried them both together and each seperate. It always freezes within seconds in a race if the rear-view is on. I think I'm going to give up. I'll just turn off the rear-view and play without it.

Thanks
