GF4 Ti4600 = what newer Nvidia card in performance?

I've been out of the loop as far as Nvidia cards are concerned for the past couple of years having jumped ship over to ATI. I always did like the performance of my older Ti4600 tho and am building a second box and wondered what newer nomenclature was given to a newer card that approximated the 4600's performance.

The 5700 will be approximately equal, or a 5600Ultra.

The 5900XT would be a nice buy at a cheap price, and well exceed the Ti4600.
Or you could look for a cheap Ti4200 and overclock it.

I was under the impression that 5700s were a good deal faster; that a 5600 approximated a 4600, a tad slower but with hardware dx9 support...?

5600U yes, but the plain 5600 is not as fast as 4600Ti.

The 5600U (rev1) I used hardly ever beat my Ti4200 so I should imagine a Ti4600 would be much faster! (Atleast until you enable stuff like aa & af etc however!)

True it was the rev2 that muatched more or less the 4600Ti performance.

A 5900XT is typically a better buy than a 5700U, as it's priced only slightly higher and can perform much better. But you may want to consider this $130 5700U.

It's a bit slower than the 5700 Ultra without AA/AF. With them, it's much slower, no idea what it'd be equal to though.

Still, people seem to be selling used 9700/Pro's for ~$130, too. Those would be faster cards all-around, particularly with DX9 games and AA+AF. Something to think about.
