I bought a used video card a few months ago. On boot-up the video bios says it is a TI4400, but Sisoft Sandra and Windows Device manager says its a TI4600. Would be nice if it is a TI4600, any way to make sure? ;):Q

First of all, generaly it's a bad idea to buy a video card, if you don't even know what kind it is! ;) Secondly, beats me. But I'm sure someone on these forums will know. Probably something to do with the numbers on the back of the card, but I don't really know so...

Get RivaTuner and try the overclocking. If it detects 275MHz core, it's a 4400; 300MHz, it's a 4600.

The guy who sold it to me said it was a TI4400. I'll get the RivaTuner and make sure.

Both Windows, and Sandra read the cards BIOS, and report back what it says. All you have to do is to compare the video bios number to the known TI-4600 BIOS numbers from the same manufacturer and you'll know. Just going by the default core and RAM frequency is not always accurate, as some manufacturers have different default levels. It's even possible to set higher default levels in the cards BIOS with an editor, or flash a Ti-440 into a Ti-4600. The main difference between the two is the RAM. They share the same core in the newer revisions.

Either way, you can easily overclock the Ti-440 to way past stock Ti-4600 speeds.
