Ok, this really sounds like a dumb question to me...so hang in there with me...I'm a novice.

I have gotten confused with the massive amount of prodcuts Nvidia has out there now! In the early days, it was easy to read which video card was the faster / more advanced of the two. However, now you find GeForce 4 cards beating the newer GeForce FX cards...because of the value lines.

Anyhow...on to dumb question...if no money were to be exchanging hands, and I had the opportunity to install a Geforce4 Ti4200 (unknown brand) or a Geforce3 Ti200 (Hercules)....which would be the better option?

better for what? :p

Ti200 will be cheaper, otherwise the 4200 is probably better 2d image quality as well as being faster in games.

All of the GF4 Ti cards are better than previous GF cards (GF1, GF2, GF3), but the GF4 Mx line of cards suck and would be worse than the GF3 line.
I wouldn't touch one of the newer FX NV30 line, but the next gen looks to be promising with the NV35 (ie. FX 5900 Ultra).

Quit being a dick. he didn't ask a stupid question. There are only stupid answers like yours. There are plenty of Nvidia Cards out there which makes it very confusign to keep up.

He probaly doesn't spend all day on the computer and blows his load about which GFX card to buy.

the geforce4 will allow you to do 2 monitor display's the geforce3 does not. I think that in itself is very important if you do graphics work.

VitoVonAntwon.

DO you think a Ti4400se is better than a Ti4200?
