Hi folks -
My system:
BE6 mainboard w/ latest (TH) bios (w/ slot-ket)
celeron 533A oc'd to 802
384 MB PC133 ram
WD 27.3 GB HD
300W PSU (I think)
I just reformatted the HDD, reinstalled Win2K, and installed a siluro Geforce4 MX440. Installed SP2, and 28.32s. Everything runs like a top until I put in another peripheral. Then, I get the horrible double beep at POST, and if the system boots, its video is totally garbled and unusable.
Does this sound like a power problem or an IRQ conflict? I am thinking that the old BE6 is not getting enough power to the peripherals, or the GF4 is sucking up too much power, hence the failure when an additional peripheral is installed.
Is there any history of problems with the bx440 chipset and the newer video cards? I found one mention of it in an old message on this board. I would have thought that an Abit video card would not have any problems with an Abit mainboard.
Thanks.
