Im about to get a new graphics card on September as my GF2 MX400 hit the dust about 2 months ago (the second in 6 months time). I am on a tight budget as well and im balancing between the GFMX440 and the GF3 Ti200. Judging by some anandtech benchmarks i saw HERE I dont see much groundbreaking difference between them... about 10 fps. Although the GF4 MX440 is cheaper than the GF3 Ti200. What should i choose???

From what i've read and seen, i would go with Geforce 3 Ti 2000. Its also depends on the resolution on the games also. The higher resoultion, Geforce 3 ti200 should beat it out. How about Radeon LE 128 mb version? The scores are pretty comparable to Geforce 3 and you can get good 2D also.

I own both and IMO the GF3 Ti200 is just rubbish, yeah it's got pixel shaders but it's performance isn't that great. My GF3 Ti200 is usually only approx 10-15fps faster which is nothing really especially when you consider that the GF4 MX440 has better image quality and MUCH better tv output.

With those two, I'd get the GF3. Newer technology. When games start heavily using DX8, it will crush the GF4MX.

:) No doubt the GF3 is MUCH better, unless you really want to sacrifice DX8 hw and a lot of speed for better image quality and DVD playback. GF3TI200 is seriously underclocked to promote sales of GF3TI500 at the time that was twice the price! GF3TI200 gets to within 10% of GF3TI500 and is an excellent card. If you want image quality then get a Leadtek or Gainward GF3 card.

;) Rad8500LE cards are excellent if you can live without AA. They are about as fast as a GF3TI500 and also have excellent image quality, DVD playback, TVout and dual display. Rad9000pro cards are a tad slower than Rad8500LE but are still excellent cards. Watch out for oem or non-ATI (powered not built bny ATI) as these are usually 10% slower, see what the price diffs are like.

:D 128MB is a VERY worthwhile purchase for any new gfx card.
