GF4 Go running the UT2002 test?

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the UT2002 test a DX8 benchmark? How is it then, that the mobile GF4 Go and Radeon 7500 in the recent review could be benchmarked using the test? They're not DX8 cards and don't have the programmable shaders that are required for DX8 games. Could someone explain this?
 
the dx8 specific stuff simply gets run in software. afterall, if non dx8 cards couldn't run dx8 software how could they run 3dmark2001?
