Is there much of a real world difference, other than AA, between these 2 cards? How about the GF3 Ti-500 vs. the GF4 Ti-4400? I play racing games, such as RalliSport Challenge, on my AthlonXP 1900+ (1.6GHz), 512MB 2100, WinXP machine. That game has moments when I get video stuttering, so would a video card upgrade help, or is it more of a CPU problem? Thank.

What are you running in the background to cause any kind of stuttering? How hot does your video card get? I noticed that after playing real graphic intense games that my ti500 would kinda stutter too...and it was a bit warm around my card.

I also have a ti4200, and I noticed that the stuttering has gone away, but I also play all my games with all the eye candy cranked up in the driver control panel...The ti4200 is a little bit faster...

Yes, not only will you see an increase in frames b/c of the additional bandwidth the faster core and faster memory provide, but the gf4 core also has 2x as many vertex shaders. The extra 64MB also helps out in some games at higher resolutions, but its not a huge factor atm.

sc0tty8: I don't know my GPU temps, but I don't think that's a problem for me. Everything seems ok in that area. I disable Norton Virus Auto-Protect and my Firewall. I don't believe I have much running in the background.

So you think a v-card upgrade might help a bit?

you should have no problem running NFS on a
Ti500 at all. Like others have stated check heat
issues, play at a lower resolution depending on
what you play it at now, maybe upgrade your
drivers.

Both the Ti4200 and the Ti4400 are significantly faster than the Ti500 but I don't think it's worth upgrading to either of them. Wait for the NV30 to arrive and then either get a Ti4600, a 9700 Pro or the NV30 itself depending on the prices and your budget.
