Gf3 keeps freezing

i just go my 3d prophet 3 last wensday and there are a number of games that dont work with it. Whenever i start a game of halflife ,with opengl or direct 3d, it will load the map then just freeze when its about to start. Its done this with most other d3d games.
It will load the game and then freeze with the music still playing.
Iv tried everything at the guillemot website, and i emailed them about it and they basically cut and pasted thier support page.
Iv tried updating my bios, reformatting my hd,reinstalling windows, updating drivers, disabling all the chipset features.
anyone have any suggestions???

system specs-
amd athlon tbird 1.33 gig
384 megs ddr ram
A7A266 Asus mobo
3d prophet 3
sb live value
windows ME

its unfixable unless you send the card to me.

seriously, did you uninstall the last vid card drivers? i know some cards will leave traces of their drivers in the registry, etc etc

That would be my guess as well, a non-acpi compliant board trying to be shared with the vid card could cause that problem...

typical, same old - same old.

Download NVMax set your AGP at 2X if its 4, or 1X if its 2X.
Disable fastwrites/sidebanding.
Set PCI textures at 1 D3D,2 OGL (Lowest)
Use WHQL drivers (6.50 from Nvidia site or 7.58 (Win2k) 7.78 (98)from Cntrl-alt-del)
And read www.geforcefaq.com from top to bottom.

BTW: If you send it to me, I can test it for you over an extended period of time.

uhh i dont think ill send it to anyone ;-)

iv done most of that in my bios (disabling agp 4,2,1x ,fastwrites.

but ill as for the older drivers, i havnt tried cause they wernt made ffor the nv 20 (gf3) chipset. only the 10.xx and the 12.xx's are.

Ok did you try removing all the other card in your system? Sound to me like something else is crashing with your Video card when you start a game. Remove all the other card start with just the Geforce and the HardDrive..start the game..see if it loads and plays. If all is well and the next item "sound Card" and move it from one pci slot to another...let me know what happen's

I had a similar problem with Elite Force after I installed my GeForce2Pro.
It took over a week of searching until I finally found a game review with a similar problem - solution was turning OFF the Gl Extensions from the games menu. Odd, but it worked.
Also, I had to reinstall Tribes 2 because it refused to understand that I changed video cards.
Try doing a search for that issue related to the specific game you're having trouble with - might do the trick.
Good luck.
