Gf2mx200 playing MOHAA

Hey all!
I just bought MOHAA the other day and set it all up and have been playing for about 3 days. On less foggy maps, i get about 40-50fps with sometimes spurts of 60-70fps.

I have newest drivers that I can tell and I have nvidia refresh rate. In counter-strike I get a nice 100fps without any problem at all running at 600x800.

Besides buying another video card, what else can I do to get a higher FPS output from my card while playing MOHAA?

Thanx in advance,

Joe

Well, the MX200 is severly bottlenecked by memory bandwidth. Overclock the memory as high as stability allows. It ain't gonna buy you lunch though...

Then, consider shelling out the $56 (shipped) for a Visiontek Geforce2 GTS-V

You get that high of fps?

I have radeon Vivo 64meg card thats overclocked 260 230 and some of the areas are like 16fps with all visual quality except simple shadow.

Using 800x600 32bit.

I'm running win2k by the way.

Depends on the res.

I'd recommend the lowest res. with the majority of the details dialed-down to mid to low levels.

I'd also go to the console and check the "com_maxfps". Default is 85 but you can try and dial that up and see if that improves.

Like others have said. The MX200 is memory bw limited as well as having a crippled GF2 core.

I played the game on 1024x768 (w/c is my default game playing res) 32bpp, everything on High-Highest w/o the shadows and I avg. 30-40. Only noticeable slowdown was on Omaha Beach w/c dipped below 25 at times and in Mission 6 in the Snow Forests w/c dipped below 20.

My vid card is a Gainward GF2 Pro 450 Golden Sample at 200/444. A great card that can get up to near-GF2 Ultra speeds if the need arises w/c is almost never. That GF4 Ti4200 looks pretty nice. I hope Gainward releases a Ti4200 version.

You could try overclocking the card's memory but expect only an increase of maybe 2-3 fps.

:Q

At what settings? 320 x 240 x 16 or something? Even at 640 x 480 x 32 the MX200 should absolutely crawl in MOHAA.

Nevermind I guess you answered me already Rankor.

Those two levels make my system craw.

I need a better processor. It's holding me back.

EMAN, I don't think a faster CPU would help as much as a faster GPU. I reckon the Radeon is maxing out around 1GHz. That seems like an insane o'erclock from 183/183?? Are you sure the increased freqs are not actually lowering perormance? I found the Auto Configger thing to do its function well for single player and could even tolerate bumping up a bit but for mp I prefer the reverse and dumb them down a tad.

First you must enable the console via options or shortcut command line. Then open the console in game with the tilde key "~" and type "fps 1" to enable and "fps 0" to disable.

Here are some shorcut command line switches which you can add after a space at the end of the shorcut target to disable all those horrible intro/splash screens (you can alternately delete the video files and just use the last one to skip the legal screen)":

D:\MOHAA\MOHAA.exe +set cl_playintro 0 +set ui_skip_eamovie 1 +set ui_skip_titlescreen 1 +set ui_skip_legalscreen 1

Thx Auric .. I was getting annoyed with that damn startup too. I removed it from UT but hadn't gotten around to looking up how to remove it in MoH. You saved me some searching :)
