GF2 Ultra... strange behavior

Well I should really kick myself in the head for this one.

I found a geforce 2 ultra in the closest and tried it in a system and apparently it doesn't work... correctly.

It boots but I am greeted with vertical lines of colors flashing from pink to white and blue to green (I'll make pictures of this later). The computer continues booting up and even boots to OS while the monitor changes pattern in colors (most likely due to the colors that should be displayed).

I tried putting in a PCI card (booted off it fine) and erase/reflash the bios found on a nvidia bios website but I had no luck. This problem is physical.

The fan is working correct and the ram sinks are making contact with the ram.

Well, that's good. It seems you solved your own problem. It's too bad the GeForce2-Ultra doesn't work but keep it as a part of videocard history.:)

Ive got an old Geforce 2 Ultra that does EXACTLY the same thing!

Even during bootup, strange colors.

I fiddled with it, and put a new aftermarket thermaltake fan on it to see if it would help.

Well, ill be darned, it booted & looked fine, ran fine, i let it loop 3dmark for about 6hrs with no issues.

So, i gave it to a friend, it worked fine for a week, then started doing it again.

I took it back & gave her an old GF3 ti200.

So my old GF2 Ultra is in my "extra graphic card" drawer along with some voodoo2's, TNT, Hercules Kyro2, Rendition Verite, some junk Tridents and an ISA trident in case I ever need to flash a video bios.

Seems a shame to be wasting such a good card, but i never knew EXACTLY what was causing it to do that.
Maybe someday Ill get it out & see if i can figure it out.

BTW: My GF2 Ultra is/WAS a Creative Annihilator Pro(spl?).

Seems you already answered my theory about a corrupt bios.

So, Hopefully someone will jump in here with some ideas.
