In need of an upgrade folks. Looking at the GF2 Ti with 64 megs of DDR or the GF4 MX420 with 64 megs of SDR. Which one would you go with for all around use and some decent gaming now and then? Also... seems like I read somewhere that the GF4 MX does not support DX8 but I can't confirm it.

Win XP Pro
XP1700 with 512 Megs

Thanks!

WOOPS!!!!! Never Mind. I found the answer.

both cards will play directx 8 games just fine... but don't expect to be able to use all the dx8 eye candy. the only mainstream (not talking about quadros, firegl's, etc.) cards that support all dx8 features are geforce 3's, geforce 4 ti's, and radeon 8500's. most gf4 mx 420's use 128-bit sdr, and are only about 20% faster than a gf2 mx400. gainward makes an mx420 with 64-bit ddr, which speeds it up, but the 64-bit factor still keeps it a bit below the gf2 ti. the gf2 ti uses 128-bit ddr and, even tho it's based on an older core, should outperform the mx420's in games and stuff, even the ddr version by a little bit. if u want a better quality tv-out tho, i'd suggest the mx420, as gf2's mostly have not-so-good tv encoders. just lettin' ya know. hope all of this helps.
