GF wants a sidekick

Isnt this thing epically crap? She's on T-mobile and doesn't want to change really (I have tmo as well as all of her friends, coworkers) so we leach off the unlimited t-mo to t-mo use.

She wants a phone that does email and has a physical keyboard. Doesn't care too much about web apps, maybe light web browsing and google maps, but I cant think of anything else.

Suggestions anyone? She tried my Curve 8900 and though the keys were too small, which is why she likes the sidekick better.

Motorola Cliq. Hell, Samsung Gravity?

I work for T-Mobile. I deal with the phones day in and day out. The Sidekick 2008 as well as LX 2009 are both SHIT. After the last Sidekick server fiasco, there is a reason T-Mobile will no longer be carrying this shit brand. A brand that has been exclusive to Tmo for 5+ years.

I have a femal friend with a Cliq, she loves it.

TMobile will likely kill even the data for the Sidekick soon, and make everyone change/upgrade to a different phone.

To be honest - the phones were generally crap, but the service was ahead of its time. Things like slide-out keyboards, server-based contacts/other data backup, were standard on the Sidekick long before the rest of the smartphone market.

Of course, that's not the case anymore, so its a moot point. On T-Mo, if she wants a slide-out keyboard, I'd recommend the G1, the Touch Pro2, or the Cliq. I'd probably go G1 personally, but I'm biased (used one for a year).

My GF - who is not particularly tech-savvy - has the G1 and she loves it. Although the social networking add-ons (motoblur) on the Cliq might be a draw for her.

I told her about the Cliq, but I think she balked at how much it cost. How is the Gravity? What kind of "email" does it support?

If anything i'll just convince her to get the cliq, she kinda liked the Dash too.

MS might announce the followup to the sidekick next week.

I thought Sidekick is great I had Sidekick3 and it has a great keyboard but the DangerOS get old overtime. Sidekick LX 2009 should be better with 3G and GPS I hope Tmo does not have to kill Sidekick.

wait for the G1 successor (forgot what its called) and microsofts project pink, or get the motorola cliq.
