told her I called like 10 restaurants last night looking for a table and they're all booked. So I said tomorrow we're going to the local pizza place and watchin' a movie. She doesn't believe me, but that's really the plan :(

yer fvcked no matter what.. I still don't understand why girls insist on doing this kind of sh!t to us..

I took my gf out today to a retaurant that is fvcking expensive that she's been wanting to go to for a year now... despite me saying over and over that it's not 'all that'. Then, we get to the restauarant and she acts all dissappointed and says she's annoyed at herself that she wanted to go there so much. WTF.. enjoy it, b!tch!

Girls are nonsensical.

Want a cheap, romantic "surprise"? If the weather's good, pack a lunch and head up to the mountains for a picnic. Sure, it's probably not everything she expected...but it DOES beat the local pizza place in the female mind.

its very nice to have a chick that will pay you back

ive taken her to numerous restraunts. J Alexanders in cleveland ($80), Ginos East pizza in Chicago ($60), prolly some others too, but none were quite as nice as that. and the steakhouse only totaled like 55 after tip.

o yea, i forgot to mention her dad owns a Pantera GT5-S, and 3 Jag E-types

Tell me about it. I went over to her place last night, haven't seen her in forever . . . well, I prolly can't really say on a public forum, I guess.

Pantera's a nice car.

fs5, I'd suggest taking her out to a nice restaurant on the 15th, or maybe over the weekend. If she doesn't understand that you truly didn't find a place for the 14th and that you're trying to make up for it then she has issues. My gf and I already agreed we're going out to a nice place this weekend and just doing ice cream or something for the 14th.

We went and watched Ron White last night so no big plans for tonight other than....well you know.....

Edit: Hey, have the pizza place make it special and have them arrange the pepperonis in the shape of a heart on the pizza. At least that way she can't say you didn't try ;)

You are in trouble. Best thing to do now is ...

Cheap and easy
1) Go to foodtv and get some full course meal recipe that is easy to do (anything is fine as long as it looks like you took some time to do it). Anyways the dessert and alcohol is more important. (Strawberry and cream and La Moet <champagne> is a classy mix and will make her feel special)
2) Take off of work early.
3) Go to the grocery store and buy the supplies with roses (see if you can buy rose petals for cheap).
3.5) Rent a romantic movie "Just Like Heaven" is good and a new one. (for backup)
4) Cook meal before she gets to your place.
5) Spread rose petals on floor to the place you will set the meal (might I suggest a fireplace or family room <more intimate>)
6) If no fireplace, pop in the movie, but give her all the attention.
7) PROFIT.

....
A little harder to do (and only works if she likes being outside and it is also cold so might not be a good idea for now)
1) Sparkling cider and strawberries (because you will be driving)
2) Buy some easy finger foods (cheese, crackers, olives, and maybe something more filling)
3) Since it is cold, Make sure to bring a big blanket you guy can cuddle in
4) Find a place nearby the city (park or country) and watch the stars. Figure out some interesting stuff to tell her about the stars and other insightful stuff. <basically wow her>
5) Buy something really nice for her (doesn't have to be diamonds). Maybe a sterling silver necklace/earings from James Avery or something (at most $40-50 not much and she will think it is wonderful). Give it to her after wooing her while watching the stars.

Jewelry is nice only because it is not something they need and not practical. It basically says to her (even though illogical), that she is worth buying something extravagant on. Do more with actions (sweet words, spending a lot of time preparing something, cuddling). Both are good.

Too much hassle for me, that is why I am single, but you could do that stuff.

What does that have to do with anything? Besides, Jaguars are crap.

What you should have done in the first place is mention that you don't believe in Valentine's Day after New Year's. Explain to her that you think romance can't be set on a structured date. Then start doing small romantic things like flowers at her workplace for no apparent reason. Or dance lessons (most girls get a real kick out of that). Or a special date just out of the blue. Don't plan on anything for Valentine's, just make it a usual hanging out. Then you wouldn't be as screwed (maybe still a little because at her workplace girls talk about what their SO did anyways and she wouldn't have anything to say). But the flowers thing on a random and all that other stuff if done in front of her coworkers and friends would clear that up, and she wouldn't have to explain anything other than you don't believe in a set romance day. (You would get extra brownie points if you did something for her anyways though ;) )
