good lord, what's the problem with getting drunk every now and then? It doesn't fundamentally change one's moral character or the validity of one's relationships. I've been with my girlfriend for over two years now, things are still going very well, and <gasp> i went out last night without her and got drunk.

my guess here is that the people who are so quick to say that someone who "parties" cannot have a steady relationship is simply not experienced with drinking and thus wishes to demean this act with which he/she is not familiar.

IMHO, there's just a slight difference here. We're not talking normal college girl type antics like overdoing it at a kegger party and having one too many playing beer pong or sucking down a couple more cups of electric jello than she should have. This girl, from how she's being described, is the type who sounds like she routinely pounds down a half-liter of Jack and chases it down with four shots as she did that night. Her actions don't sound like occassional binge social drinking, but rather like borderline alcoholism.

What indications do you have that this is "borderline alcoholism"?? Sounds to me like she had a good night, perhaps had a bit much booze, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I actually read some BS article awhile ago that said if you become intoxicated more than 3 times within a year YOU ARE an alcoholic.

hmmmm.....Just about everyone I know is one then. :D

bmacd, forget about the drugs & the booze. You have a much larger problem. She doesn't respect you man. She told you point blank that she was going to see other guys once she's back in school. She's blocking your number. WTF!! Unless you want to end up like the married guy in boogie nights, grow a pair and get everything on your chest out in the open asap. Then you can worry about the other things. Good luck.

Read my thread about why my drunken ex does. You think that's normal and acceptable too?
Classic rebound relationship behaviour. Very little to do with being under the influence of whatever.

A-HA! But she's not rebounding! She's been with the guy for a year. She told me yesterday she doesn't view sleeping with other people as cheating anymore. Whoo-eee. What a mess.

Don't kid yourself, she's on the rebound. She's about as in love with her current bf as you were with her when you drop kicked her to the curb. If she was, her new outlook on cheating wouldn't exist. Sounds like she's using sex as a means to justify her worth. I can't help but wonder would you be so in love with her now if things would have worked out with the girl who burst your bubble? Somehow, I don't think so.
